Subject: [SFWDA Leadership] Southern Gulf OHV Park

After years of work by SFWDA and TOHVA, Tennessee is on its way to having their first local government run, RTP funded OHV area. Last night at a meeting of the Coalmont City mayor and aldermen, a resolution was passed to apply for RTP funds to open an OHV area north of the city. Present at the meeting were local government officials, members of local 4 WD clubs, representatives of TOHVA and SFWDA and a representative of the Economic Development agency that will help the city complete the paperwork. We are reasonably confident that the $400,000 grant request will be approved. The grant requested is an 80%/20% cost share and SFWDA has signed on as a partner in this project and has agreed to provide volunteer labor to cover the $100,000 of matching funds.

The proposed OHV area will consist of 600+ acres that the City will purchase and an addition 600+ acres they have agreed to lease. After the State approves the Grant there will be several months to a year of planning before construction starts, at which time we will call on you all for help.
