I'm wiring in my adjustable thermostat and the instructions say to hook a wire to the A/C clutch wire. Apparently this is an override feature, I guess to cut off the compressor for some reason.

I have three questions:

1. Do I even need to worry about making this connection?

2. Why would the electric fan need to override the A/C clutch?

3. I only see two wires going into the compressor, one black one blue w/orange stripe. The black appears to be grounded so I assume I would make the connection to the blue/orange stripe wire?

Thanks

yeah, yeah, I know KISS.
It is for the radiator. The original thermostat I bought over the weekend turned out not to handle the current draw during start up and was blowing fuses. The old one did not have this extra wire for the A/C clutch but obviously the new one does. I still don't know what it is for, the only help from NC4X4 thus far is to straight wire it. Since it is on the Grand Cherokee (ZJ) I suppose I should have the thermostat on there to limit the draw off the electrical system when possible. It does work rather well straight wired to the point my new radiator stays relatively cool to the touch.

So any thoughts to my original questions?

Ok, think I figured out why I need to make the connection to the A/C compressor. Apparently if the engine is cool enough w/out the fan but I am using the A/C it will turn on the fan.
