Anyone interested in a beach trip? Thats something most anyone can do, even with daily drivers. We have some good selections from the outter banks to Carolina Beach and Ft. Fischer.

Right in the middle of the summer may be too hot, but maybe something later summer or early fall. Fishing should be decent later in the summer as well for anyone who likes to surf fish...

Any ideas or opinions?

I'm always up for a fishing trip. Make sure if you are thinking of going to Cape Hatteras that you check the status of beach driving. Oregon inlet is always a good choice and the fishing is usually pretty good. Toward the end of the summer, the fishing can be great. Spot, seamullet, pompano, blues, and spanish will all be around.

I always run to Oregon Inlet, mainly for the fishing. The beach has a lot of good riding on it as well. Other options include Cape Lookout. That is only accessible via a ferry and is 100% 4x4 on the island. Fishing there is usually pretty good as well.

What is everyone's schedule for the end of the summer? I'm up for anywhere at the beach. I will be out of town Aug 22 to Labor Day. Other than that, I'm up for any weekend.

Well Im up for whatever. I need to get a new rod though. All Ive got is my 6.5' UglyStick med. flex w/ 8lb line...dont think that will really hold up to anything out there haha. As long as its not the first week in Aug. I can go.

Well don't buy anything till you get down there, I'm pretty sure I can get you a good deal on a nice rod at my dad's tackle shop if we go to Nags Head.

I will be in Kitty Hawk from July 20th to the 27th. Let me know if any of you will be in the area during that time

Last year I got a nice (cheap though) rod and reel combo at a tackle shop on the way to Oregon Inlet. 14' surf rod with 15# line for $50. Not bad at all. I catch more fish with that rod than I do with my high dollar rod and reel.

I think middle August or early September will be the best for fishing and weather, not so hot!

Ok, looks like the second full weekend in September will be a good weekend to shoot for the beach. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Yeah, I like Ft. Fisher as well. Its been years since I've been there, so I'm not quite as familiar with it as I am Oregon Inlet and the "banks"

Ft. Fisher is an option. We'll make the decision once we get closer. Lets see how the fishing reports stack up when we get closer...

sweet. The Carolina Trailblazers and CNC both make trips to Carolina Beach/Ft. Fisher. I'm guessing there is more room down there to ride, etc. than the outer banks. Plus, its fairly close if not closer than the outer banks.

Any opinions?

OK. This is getting closer. How about September 20th to Carolina Beach/Ft. Fisher? They allow primitive camping and I'm sure there are other pay-sites around.

fishing tends to be good and there is a lot of beach to drive on.

I'm planning on it and anyone else is welcome to join me. I will prob. mostly be fishing and camping versus "wheeling" I will also bring my kayaks from some other fun if the fishing isn't any good.
