as most of you know the CJ was retired at the end of last year, due to several reasons, mainly the fact that i wanted to move on to building something else...
it will be missed, although pieces of it live on throughout the US, and the NCK family:

next up was the first stage of the build.. i thought i would build something that was more street-friendly, yet still a hardcore rig.. enter the S-10 that i wrecked last year:

the plans were for a cab truck with the stock 4.3/4l60e/d300/60/eaton, minimal exo cage, dovetailed front and rear, and a wheelbase of 108-112"....

once i had the truck disassembled and down to the basics, i decided to create my own frame for it since the only thing that was being utilzed from the factory frame was the 6 body mounts:

at this point i wanted to mock up the front-end just to see what i was dealing with:

the 108-112" wheelbase went out of the window QUICKLY without creating wheelwells in the rear of the cab... this was one thing i vowed not to do, also the cab is much taller than i was expecting.. aproxx. 85" at full compression and i still had the exo to add... this meant that it wouldn't fit in my garage... so in the end the cab truck idea wasn't going according to plan...

Well, it was about this time (last week) that we went to the rock race... that re-ignited the fire to create a LIGHT-WEIGHT two-seater buggy... so we returned on Saturday evening, and by Sunday the cab was pushed out of the way, the frame was stripped of the body mounts, and the axles were set at a more desirable wheelbase..106":

where it's at today, the rear main hoop is bent and in place, and the seats are mocked in place:

Too high? put it next to Shanes at full height...
That lil Chevy was looking badass...

I'm sure either way it'll be a damn fine rig. So far the buggy idea is looking good.

What, no four wheel steer?

That's looking damn fine B. What program is that your using? Is it SketchUp?

Am I seeing correctly that it's just a two link in the front? Kind of hard to tell.

ha yeah, no rear steer... still using the 60 front and eaton rear from the jeep. as for the program, its AutoCAD 2006. The "real" tube work is coming out pretty accurate, but this would be SO much easier with Bendtech PRO... a program that has been created for this type of work.

the front is a 3-link with a panhard(track) bar, i'll get a different view of the front today.

as for an update, i got the two bars (1/4" wall tubing) that run from the engine hoop to the rear hoop done this weekend, and the driver's side upright is in as of last night...

thanks for the compliments

no, i wish... they are chocolate lab/german short-hair pointer mix (German Chocolates )... they have all the traits of a lab (water) and will point about anything (bird-dog) so its fun to watch, esp. with two of them..
