I guess that makes sense. I was just thinking about the Jeeps original use in war times, etc. If I knew the tank was under the driver, I'd probably aim there...

Contrary to what's seen in the movies, when gas tanks are hit with small arms fire they don't generally explode into a fireball, they simply leak fuel. Saw this a couple of times in Grenada and Beiruit when we were still using the M-151s

No Hablos Jeep

If it doesn't make sense, do it

Ahh. M151s. Those have the gas tanks under the driver's seat as well. Boy I wish I still had the 5 I used to have...

I've never felt unsafe sitting on the tank like that.Allways figured if a tank was to burst into flames like a pinto, didn't matter much where you were sitting anyhow.

I wasn't picturing a big fireball like in any movie. I just assumed that the first one may pierce and cause a leak, the sencond or third cause a spark and then a flame. In any case, still seems kind of odd to me.

95 XJ 4.0HO>AW-4>NP241"Roc-Trac." Rough Country 6.5" on 33's. Warn M8000, locked and armored up but (was) driven daily.
